What you are skipping
Between ten and twenty there are nine numbers you did not say. You jumped over them on purpose.
It gets there faster
Ten jumps of ten reach a hundred. Counting by ones takes a hundred steps to cover the same ground.
When you can use it
Only when things come in tens already — ten in a bag, ten in a row. Otherwise you would miss some.
