You do not have to count from one every time.
Step 1: Let's Learn
Read it, or press Listen and follow the words.
Hold the first number
For 6 + 3, hold 6 in your head. Then count on: 7, 8, 9.
Counting on is faster and you make fewer mistakes.
Why you may skip the first group
You already know how many are in it. Counting them again tells you nothing you did not have a moment ago.
The mistake everybody makes
Do not say the starting number as your first count. For 6 + 2, six is where you stand. The counting is seven, eight.
Step 2: Try It Yourself
Hop along and watch where you land.
Step 3: Watch an Example
One step at a time.
Watch Ben Count On
Ben works out 6 + 3.
- Step 1
He says the bigger number first: 6.
Step 4: Your Turn
Practice makes it stick.
