Every row holds ten. So ten more is the square straight below.
The ones do not move
23 and 33 both end in 3. Only the tens changed.
The ones digit never moves
Adding ten changes only the tens digit. 23 becomes 33 and the 3 stays. Seeing that is faster than counting ten times.
Why the ones stay put
You added a whole bundle, not loose ones. Nothing happened to the loose pile, so its count is unchanged.
