You have added tens. You have added ones. Now do both.
Step 1: Let's Learn
Read it, or press Listen and follow the words.
Two steps
13 + 24. Tens first: 1 ten and 2 tens make 3 tens. Then ones: 3 and 4 make 7.
3 tens and 7 ones is 37.
Why split into tens and ones
You already know how to add tens, and how to add ones. Splitting turns one unfamiliar sum into two familiar ones.
Then put them back together
20 + 10 is 30, 3 + 4 is 7, so the answer is 37. The last step is joining the two answers.
Step 2: Try It Yourself
Tap and try it out.
Tens
3
Ones
7
13 + 24 = 37
1 tens and 2 tens make 3 tens. Ones go with ones.
