One more means put one extra in. The group gets bigger by exactly one.
Step 1: Let's Learn
Read it, or press Listen and follow the words.
It is the next number
One more than three is four. Four is the very next counting word after three. That is not a coincidence.
Why the next word
Counting adds one thing at a time. So moving one step along the number list is the same as adding one object.
You can stop counting from one
If you know there are five and you add one, you do not start again at one. You just say six.
One less goes backwards
Take one away and you step back one word. One less than four is three.
Step 2: Try It Yourself
Tap and try it out.
How many
6 more would make 10.
