Round things roll
A circle rolls smoothly because there is no corner to stop it. That is why wheels are circles.
A square
A square has four straight sides and four corners. Every side is exactly the same length.
All four sides the same
That is the part that makes it a square. Four straight sides with two long and two short is a different shape.
Turning it does not change it
Tip a square onto its corner and it is still a square. The sides did not change, only the way you are looking at it.
