Big ones in one pile, small ones in another. Size works as a rule just as well as colour.
The same things, sorted differently
One pile of toys can be sorted by colour, then swept up and sorted again by shape. Different piles, same toys.
Why that matters
It means the piles come from your rule, not from the toys. You decided what counts as going together.
Sorting two ways at once is hard
Big red ones, small red ones, big blue ones, small blue ones. That is four piles from two rules. Start with one rule.
