Go in order

Start with 0 in the first tray. Then 1. Then 2. You will not miss any.

Work in order so you find them all

Start with 0 and 6, then 1 and 5, then 2 and 4. Going in order is how you know when you have finished, instead of hoping you have.

One side grows, the other shrinks

Every time the first part goes up by one, the second goes down by one. It has to, or the whole would change.
